Consultation and Assistance
Our involvement does not end once a rescued Great Pyrenees is placed in an adoptive home. The NEPR network hopes you will remain in contact with the volunteer who helped assist you in the home placement of your adopted Pyr. We remain committed to the Pyres we place for the lifetime of the dog.
NEPR provides Pyr related events and educational programs in a forum that allows owners to mingle, network and share ideas. If you would like to be added to our mailing list of upcoming events and activities please contact Judy by email at
Should there ever be a Pyr problem, a NEPR volunteer will help the owner manage and problem solve. If the owner can not manage the problem, following consultation with volunteer assistance, then the dog must be returned to NEPR, as stipulated in the transfer of ownership contract. Therefore, NEPR fulfills the role that a good breeder would normally provide.
Occasionally, due to limitations in foster space, we are unable to immediately take the dog into foster care. Please be patient if this should occur.
Since Great Pyrenees dogs have unique guardian qualities any Pyr owner may contact us for assistance and guidance. We are happy to consult by phone and if necessary make a home visit to help owners resolve problems with their dogs. Information sharing is another way that NEPR hopes Pyrs can stay in their loving homes and enjoy a full life.
